Targeted Department Of Education Standards

 

1.         Reading and Literature

Range:  Read a range of literary and informative texts for a variety of purposes.

Conventions and Skills:  Apply knowledge of the conventions of language and texts to construct meaning.

2.         Writing

Range:  Write using various forms to communicate for a variety of purposes and audiences.

Composing Processes:  Use writing processes and strategies appropriately and as needed to construct meaning and communicate effectively.

Conventions and Skills:  Apply knowledge and understanding of the conventions of language and research when writing.

Rhetoric:  Use rhetorical devices to craft writing appropriate to audience and purpose.

3.         Oral Communication

Range:  Communicate orally using various forms – interpersonal, group, and public – for a variety of purposes and situations.

Communication Processes:  Use strategies within speaking and listening processes to construct and communicate meaning.

Conventions and Skills:  Apply knowledge of verbal and nonverbal language to communicate effectively.

Rhetoric:  Adapt messages appropriate to audience, purpose, and situation.

Library Research

*complete the MHS library Introduction to the Library workshop,
*evaluate validity of websites,
*use research to answer guiding questions,

 

Classroom Activities

*compose guiding questions
*read Romeo and Juliet,
*learn Renaissance dances,
*share research,
*develop video and reflection rubrics,
*create and edit a five-minute video, and
*write a reflection.
