Teacher Directions In California Humanism is one of the major standards of the Renaissance. I began by teaching the students about Humanism. I used the included Power Point, a United Streaming Video (http://www.unitedstreaming.com), readings from the seminar and the textbook. Others may wish to adapt or teach Humanism in the way that is most familiar to them. When we had finished learning about the humanists we began the student activity. We spent two to three days as a class researching, and then began writing their paragraphs for the power point slides. I choose to do a kiosk mode power point which is slightly different. It functions more like a web page. My students understand that they are expected to write whole paragraphs on these slides instead of bullets as on the traditional power point. As students showed me their completed work they were allowed to get back on the computer and put together their power point. The entire process took about 2 weeks. It was an activity that the students enjoyed. More Information can be obtained about the kiosk mode power point at the following website. There is even a Lincoln Kiosk mode power point that can be downloaded. http://www.visalia.k12.ca.us/techcoach/handouts.htm

Who is the greatest Humanist of the Renaissance?
Introduction: The IRR (Italians for Renaissance Rebirth) has been established to bring back the Renaissance Spirit to Italy. The IRR is hoping to bring world attention to the Humanists of the Renaissance by establishing a Hall of Fame. They are sponsoring a contest for students of world history. You have been selected by the IRR to nominate a Humanist from the Renaissance who may become the first inductee in the Hall of Fame.
Task: Use the Internet to research and find out more about your favorite Humanist. As you search the internet look for biographical information, important contributions they made, and how they changed the Renaissance. To complete this project, you will: 1. Create a power point presentation, describing the biographical information about your person, explain the contributions they made to the Renaissance, and persuasively argue why they should be in the Hall of Fame
Process: 1. Choose a figure from the Renaissance. (Pass this information on to your teacher before you begin. Once a humanist has been chosen he or she may not be picked by another classmate.) 2. Research your humanist. (Look for biographical information, important contributions they made, how they changed the Renaissance, and reasons why they should be the first inductee in the Hall of Fame.) 3. Create a power point presentation, describing the biographical information about your person, explain the contributions they made to the Renaissance, and persuasively argue why they should be in the Hall of Fame.
