Course Objectives:

• Introduce advanced undergraduate students to epistolary women and the epistolary genre in the early modern period;
• Examine and compare rhetorical strategies in transnational women's texts;
• Discuss the representation of women's lives in these texts and their importance for women and men today;
• Reflect on whether the recovery of female epistolary writers alters our sense of the origins of the epistolary genre. Semester Seminar (15 weeks)
