Goals/Objectives: As a result of this lesson you will...
a...learn about the condition of women during the Renaissance and link that condition to earlier European attitudes about women.
b...evaluate and synthesize primary source material to create a unique and coherent thesis statement.
c...create three topic sentences which support your thesis statement.
d...choose appropriate evidence to support topic sentences.
Directions:
1. Read the documents and view the pictures around the room. Take notes on each document. Consider the following questions:
a. Who is writing?
b. What is his or her attitude about women?
c. Is his/her attitude similar to any others we have studied in earlier units?
2. Based on the documents and your notes create an outline for an argumentative essay over the documents. Use the attached blank outline.
Your thesis statement should make an ARGUMENT that can be supported by the documents. It should NOT simply summarize the documents.
Your topic sentences should make ARGUMENTS that support your thesis statement.
