The title of this unit is European exploration. This unit is design to provide students with a holistic view the exploration period, including its causes and results. It was very difficult to merge the Renaissance with North Carolina goals and objectives for 8th grade social studies. It was equally difficult finding information and activities for both advanced and regular students to comprehend. However, I believe the following lesson plan not only meets the requirements of North Carolina, but it also meets the requirements of my school’s International Baccalaureate/ Arts Integrated Program.
