Read by Napoleon (slept with it under his pillow), Mussolini, Hitler, and Stalin, this book was very influential. In it he advised rulers to make their states strong by using any means possible - even if it were immoral or unethical. "Machiavellian" came to be a term to describe someone cunning and ruthless. |
