LEONARDO DA VINCI 1452-1519

(1495) Started painting the "Last Supper"

*Most brilliant universal genius who ever lived: inventor, artist, architect, sculptor, engineer, musician, and mechanic. Painted the "Mona Lisa" and the "Last Supper". Designed many things that would one day exist, though he was not alive to see most of them become a reality: tank, mechanical digger, lock gates for a canal, a human-powered flying machine, a submarine.

3 pts: Sigmund Freud said of him, "He was like a man who awoke too early in the darkness, while all others were still asleep".

2 pts: He said about himself, "O investigator, do not flatter yourself that you know the workings of nature, but rejoice in knowing the purpose of those things designed by your own mind".

1 pt: Left notebooks with drawings and ideas on bicycles, wings, subs.

"He was like a man who awoke too early in the darkness, while all others were still asleep." - Freud
