The Worlds of the Renaissance: Projects Civic Virtues and Citizenship:

A Unit Exploring Concepts of Citizenship in the Renaissance and TodayApplication: This interdisciplinary unit can be used in conjunction with Renaissance studies curriculum, or within a Civics or Government class.
Length: Approximately a week, depending on the level of sophistication of the class.
Level: High school
Objectives:
- Students will explore concepts about citizenship and civic duties via the reading, questioning, and discussion of excerpts from Renaissance primary and secondary sources.
- Students will learn about social problems and solutions in the Renaissance, and compare them to those America deals with today.
- Students will develop an understanding of the ways in which the concept of citizenship has changed from the Renaissance to the present.
- Students will develop their own concepts of citizenship.
- Students will enhance their interpersonal, oral, and written skills.
