The Worlds of the Renaissance: Projects - John Kelleher Goals
- to introduce students to the civic tradition of using art in public spaces to communicate the political and cultural values of a society.
- to reinforce the themes of civic humanism in the works of Leonardo Bruni and Poggio Bracciolini by investigating parallels within the images and symbols in Lorenzetti's allegory.
- to provide students with a sense of the patron/client relationship in the cultural context of Renaissance art.
- through the creation of their own mural of good government, develop the students' appreciation of the differences and similarities between modern and Renaissance notions of good government.
